Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum (Independent Curriculum) requires teachers to possess the competence to design active, enjoyable, and learner-centered instruction. However, observations at MA Raudlatul Ulum 2 Gondanglegi, Malang, revealed that some teachers still struggle with preparing instructional materials, applying innovative teaching models, and integrating local potential as a learning resource. Therefore, this community service initiative aims to enhance teacher competence through mentoring on the implementation of active learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum and local potential. The method employed was participatory mentoring conducted in four stages: needs identification, workshops, practical sessions on preparing instructional materials, and evaluation and reflection. The participants consisted of 23 subject teachers from MA Raudlatul Ulum 2 Gondanglegi, Malang. The results demonstrated an improvement in the teachers' understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum concepts, their ability to develop more systematic teaching modules, and their skills in applying active, learner-centered teaching models. Teachers also began integrating local potential into their instructional materials, making the learning process more contextual and meaningful. Furthermore, the mentoring activities boosted the teachers' confidence in implementing innovative teaching strategies tailored to their students' characteristics. Thus, participatory mentoring proved to be an effective strategy for enhancing teacher competence while simultaneously strengthening the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum within the madrasah environment.
