Focus and Scope
Risalah Dirasah: Journal of Multidisciplinary Islamic Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Graduate School of Universitas Al-Qolam Malang. The journal publishes research articles, conceptual studies, and critical reviews in the field of Islamic studies approached from multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary perspectives. The journal focuses on the development of Islamic knowledge and its application in the fields of Islamic education, Islamic education management, Islamic law, economics, turats studies, Arabic language education, and the development of Islamic education in response to contemporary societal dynamics.
As a journal that promotes a multidisciplinary Islamic studies approach, Risalah Dirasah opens a space for academic dialogue across disciplines relevant to Islamic studies. Articles published in this journal are expected not only to address Islamic issues normatively but also to develop academic analysis of practices, policies, institutions, thought, and socio-religious transformation from the perspective of relevant disciplines.
The focus and scope of this journal are limited to the following six main areas:
Islamic Education Management:
This area covers studies on leadership and management of Islamic educational institutions, strategic planning in Islamic education, supervision and evaluation of education, Islamic education policy, human resource management and educational financing, as well as innovation in the management of pesantren, madrasahs, and Islamic higher education institutions.
Islamic Law:
This area includes the study of ushul fiqh and legal maxims (qawa’id fiqhiyyah), contemporary fiqh (muamalah, jinayah, ahwal syakhshiyyah, siyasah syar’iyyah), comparative schools of Islamic law and Islamic legal thought, fatwa and ijtihad, Islamic law in the context of the nation-state, and issues of Islamic law and human rights.
Islamic Economics:
This area covers studies on Islamic micro and macro economics, Islamic finance and banking, Islamic accounting, zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF), Islamic business ethics, Islamic business management, and the integration of Islamic economics with sustainable development.
Islamic Turats Studies:
This area encompasses research on the classical Islamic intellectual heritage (turats), including tafsir, hadith, creed (aqidah), Sufism, the history of Islamic civilization, philology and codicology of manuscripts, classical and contemporary Muslim scholars’ thought, as well as the transmission and transformation of Islamic knowledge across generations and regions.
Arabic Language Education:
This area focuses on studies on Arabic language learning and teaching, Arabic linguistics, Arabic language teaching methodology, curriculum and media development for Arabic language education, Arabic for Islamic studies and the understanding of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning/turats), as well as the evaluation of Arabic language learning in madrasahs, pesantren, and Islamic higher education institutions.
Islamic Religious Education:
This area includes studies on curriculum and learning in Islamic Religious Education, the development of instructional media and technology for Islamic Religious Education, evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning, Islamic educational psychology, character and moral education, and inclusive and multicultural Islamic education.
This journal accepts articles that examine the above topics using multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary approaches, for example, the integration of Islamic law and Islamic economics, educational management with Islamic turats studies, or turats studies with philological and historical approaches. Thus, Risalah Dirasah serves as an academic space for deepening and broadening the understanding of Islamic sciences within specific scholarly fields while remaining open to interdisciplinary dialogue.
