AI Policy

Jurnal Studi Pesantren recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools can support academic writing, while emphasizing that authors remain fully responsible for their work. The following policy applies to all authors, reviewers, and editors.

For Authors
  1. AI tools may be used to improve language, grammar, and readability, provided the authors review and edit the output and take full responsibility for the content.
  2. AI tools must not be used to generate or alter research data, results, analyses, interpretations, references, or images, unless such use is part of the research design and is fully described in the Method section.
  3. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work.
  4. Any use of AI must be disclosed in the “AI Use/Disclosure” part of the Declarations section, stating the tool used and its purpose.
  5. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI may be treated as a breach of publication ethics and handled according to the Publication Ethics policy.
For Reviewers and Editors
  1. Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts, or any part of them, to AI tools.
  2. Reviewers must not use AI tools to write review reports; the evaluation must reflect their own expert judgement.
  3. Editors may use AI-detection results only as supporting information, never as the sole basis for an editorial decision.
